Pediatric Cannulae
Pediatric venous return cannulae and arterial cannulae are specifically designed to meet the anatomical requirements of pediatric patients. Pediatric venous return cannulae are inserted into the superior vena cava and/or the inferior vena cava in order to drain the venous blood returning to the heart during cardiopulmonary bypass. Pediatric arterial cannulae are inserted into the ascending aorta or into major arterial vessels in order to deliver the oxygenated blood from the heart/lung machine into the circulatory system of the pediatric patient.
